EMOTIONOGRAPHY

Enchanted Rock

I want to go back
to enchanted rock
where time freezes solid
like it’s granite dome
where the cool, smooth face
charged by the sun
releases my spirit
to rise and glide away

yet i returned
i don’t know why
guess i’m destined
to fulfill some plan

now that feeling
haunts me
a branch tap…tap…
tapping…
on the window pane
of my stormy mind

i want to open up
surrendering
to the elements
yet the wooden frame
stands
hopelessly jammed

and always in my dreams
i see my lifeless form
sprawled
on enchanted rock
like a sacrificial lamb
