Endless Night
  JERRY BROWNING

 BROKEN COMPASS

Endless Night

waiting for my lover
lying in the dark
eyes half-adjusted
sadly comfortable
somehow still awake

i’ve watched the clock
on the wall
all night
spinning crazy circles
now it’s too late
she never showed
she ne…ver showed
she ne…….
what’s that sound?
has she come home at last?

damn it to hell!!!
just the brush of the curtains
disturbed by the breeze
oh god, let me sleep
please let me sleep
