Seeds

Seeds

the planet’s overheating
weather’s getting mean
government’s coming
to take your rights
your jobs and gasoline

political correctness
random acts of violence
no honor or integrity
no place to think
in silence

caravans at the border
guns are in the street
even the highest court
proceeds dishonestly

And in other news,

Vlad was glad
he trumped
the distracted world
and had democracy
on the ropes
gasping
in round one
of Armageddon
practice…

the church
misplaced its compass
looking up to dollars
and down on charity
lost and vulnerable
straying
from the light
of Jesus

round two is almost over
as he slaughters civilians
like diseased cattle
in the name of power
and glory
with the threat of
nevermore

but this time
we’re paying attention
…they don’t look
like scary Arabs… O:
they look and dress
and act like us

who’s going to win round three?
are Vlad’s hateful seeds
still growing in our bellies
like an untreated cancer?

or do we fulfill our destiny?
