preaching the gospel of prosperity
trumping kindness and humanity

Instead of honor, truth, and justice
they preach deceit, outrage, and cruelty,
As the ghosts of our fathers’ service
echo into nothingness

Is the clanging of liberty’s
broken bell fallen, again
and shattered into pieces?
insurrected beyond repair?

maybe Jesus will forgive,
But not our children’s children
on their barren,
hope-scarred planet
