Paula’s Poem
  JERRY BROWNING

 BROKEN COMPASS

Paula’s Poem

with turquoise eyes
that magnetize
you’ve drawn me to your side
sweet kisses cleanse
like summer rain…
let me walk barefoot
thru the clover of your mind

i caught a bird and held on tight
afraid to let her go
she fled her cage one moonlit night
to a land i’ll never know

with trembling lips
and freedom’s grip
love’s all i can afford
but a true caress
is priceless…
let me boldly climb
the mountain of your soul

i threw a rock into a lake
it spit, then sank so fast
making pretty sweeping ripples
that dance, but never last

with words that rhyme
and a smile that shines
bright as the guiding star
i beckon you
with open arms…
let me swim naked
in the ocean of your heart
