Where Angels Dare

dwells a lady in the shadows
whose face I’ve always known
but never seen
she waits for me to find her
collecting thoughts in poems
and drawing dreams

we both had to make a life
deemed we ‘d never find the other's
aching arms
we're too old to change our path
and can't keep the past behind, so
life drags on

her smile lights the darkness
everything she touches
blooms and grows
they say she’s colorblind, but
sees more beauty than the pallet
of Van Gogh

now that I’ve given up on love
fate finally brings her to my
tingling side
we try to quench the fire, but
we both know it’s real and
senseless to deny

wasting precious moments
drowning in the rules on
which we're raised
let the anchored call us fools,
we can swim the tide and
start a second phase

can you hear me calling
can you feel my breath upon
the misty, magic air
come to me my darling
let me take you to the realm
where angels dare
