AURORA BOREALIS

Peace of Being

a  ball-capped, small town boy
with a rock n’ roll sneer,
boots, and faded jeans
a sweet-faced city girl
full of fire, lust for life
and dainty dreams

growing lonely in the crowd
both turned shiny stones
searching for the other
she tried to hold her breath
sinking in the sands
of clueless lovers

he ran toward the storm
charming in and out
of shelters from the rain
both finally settled in
dashing hope against
the walls of silent pain

fate finally found them
on a gentle autumn’s
moonlit evening breeze
tangled in the night
they broke the rules
succumbing to their needs

destiny made them choose
between true love and
those that matter most,
they plod on incomplete
with the peace of being
connected at the soul
