I’ve sailed wild seas
soared in the breeze
weathered the heights
sweating, reaching
for the next hold
fingertips blistered
learning to laugh
at silly misgivings
I’ve stood marveling
at Stonehenge,
The Pyramids
and Machu Picchu
starving for knowledge
glistening in the mist
sliding like raindrops
off jungled leaves
into the forest’s abyss
now the sun sets
beat slowing down
steps getting heavy
as the most beautiful
song in the universe
echoes into oblivion
lost in the silence
of eternal twilight
