for thirteen years a cancer
has ravished the soul of our nation
the heroism and innocent lives lost
have not been redeemed but
the monster has torn into the fabric
of what we stand for and turned
our standards and values inside out

the smoke from those twin towers
has clouded the vision of who we are
empowering the corrupt elements
whose bad decisions and deception
have let the virus out of the bottle,
now our lesser nature has overtaken
the willingness to work together
and sacrifice for the greater good

our fear’s become a commodity,
technology's become Orwellian,
we wallow in the negative and have
let our soft, spoiled way of life
reduce the great American spirit to
a black, hateful mass embedded
within the blue field of our flag
dividing our beautiful stars which
truly threatens our survival
