Route 69
  JERRY BROWNING

 ..FOLLOWING SEAS

Route 69

let’s take a chance
who’ll ever know
they’re all busy
shining brass halos
worshipping unused wings

to run careless hands
‘round well banked curves
and nibble your neck
sets the trick of the truth
free

we laugh
at their self-inflicted hell

as i flick my wild tongue
down the small of your back,
stroke that soft spot
with nervous fingers
and calloused palms
eggshell cracks

drowning in wet fire

interlocking, we travel

forbidden highways

not even noticing

the roadside’s view

idly purring

you lean down

embracing

my speed-shifter

first…

            powerglide

second…

            double clutch

overdrive!…

            lube oil boils

engine screams

loud painful siren

of         pleasure

welcome sweet climax

throttle wide open

let danger flow and

never look back
