Nyctophobia
  JERRY BROWNING

 NAKED DREAMS

Nyctophobia

shadows growing long
evening’s come and gone
blackness, unknown blackness
i’m not ready for you now
grant one more hour of light
one more chance to get it right
and i promise, how i promise
i’ll be ready for the night

*******

sweet child of the flesh
walk onward thru the mist
enjoy the quiet sailing
of my warm and worthy ship
we’ll reach the distant shore
laugh at foolish fears
and embrace the face of glory
hungered all these years
