Almost Dawn
  JERRY BROWNING

 NAKED DREAMS

Almost Dawn

i stand in the doorway staring at you
my wife, my lover, mother of our children
my friend, stretched out on the covers
mickey mouse tee-shirt and panties revealing
i can barely contain the urge to slide in
and take you…under the shield of my wings
sweet mother of god! the curves rolling, beautiful
natural-like a soft sunny morning

a panting moon glistens across your thighs
with magical, iridescence usually saved
for an especially calm night on the ocean
the aroma, the salty warmth, the moist weight
make the room sway gentle and back
the dimension, between sleep and a dream

i jump from the feeling of falling
then your eyes strain, blink, and open
meeting mine in slow, safe stride, smiling
half handed, i wave and you in return
like shy lovers at a departure gate
you roll up in the covers and i turn away
