Lyin’ in the Dark

we sit up in a tangled sheet
after an hour of faking love
light ourselves a cigarette
you ask what i’m thinkin’ of
my heart screams out, god dammit
i can’t take it anymore
but i smile and say “ah nothin’”
as i stare down at the floor
you tell me that you love me
i say that i love you
i swear that you’re the only
but you know that isn’t true
with our arms around each other
our thoughts drift worlds apart
and we spend another night together
lyin’ in the dark
(Instrumental)

i know you have a lover boy
Joe saw you in that bar
at first i didn’t believe it
then i saw you in his car
but how can i point a finger
when three point back at me
you know about that dancer
though you act like you don’t see
you tell me that you love me
i say that i love you
you swear that i’m the only
but, i know that isn’t true
with our arms around each other
our thoughts drift worlds apart
and we spend another night together
lyin’ in the dark
