Dolly Blue Eyes
  JERRY BROWNING

 ..FOLLOWING SEAS

Dolly Blue Eyes

blue eyed lady of the prairie
turns the head of every man
but she’s bottled up in anger
and doesn’t understand
the simple things

the pain of jealous spite
has spun webs of tangled love
she cries out for attention
in everything she does
and hides in dreams

i want to hold her gently
undo the wrong of tender years
give her what she’s missing
protect her from old fears
but i don’t know how
