Detour
  JERRY BROWNING

 ..FOLLOWING SEAS

Detour

beauty found me in the backwoods
now i caress her thru the night
skin soft as river lilies
her lips press truth to mine

warmth stops my worldly spinning
in a drunken dizzy state
eyes rise above cool darkness
and detach an ugly weight

dawn’s fingers wake the hillside
sculpting shape into detail
i leave beauty in the backwoods
and resume the soulless trail
