Blind Date

tomorrow i meet my dream girl
will my lifelong wish come true
i look at her lovely picture amazed
they say she’s lonely too

i’ve heard so much about her
how she likes to paint and dance
she values her love of freedom
and beaus don’t understand
but i do

night after night, i reach for her
day after day, i struggle on
a poet finds no peace of mind
just visions to frame alone

we’ll either fall in love
or passionately hate each other
maybe fantasy’s more vital than flesh
time has a way of smothering
the artists’ fire
