Raindrop
  JERRY BROWNING

 BROKEN COMPASS

Raindrop

clouds darken
condensation begins
losing my grip
falling
spinning
whipped slave
to the windmaster

plop!
a blue lake
subtly pushed to the edge
oh god
why can’t i cling
to cool, shallow comfort

riding the ripples
over the rim
pinballing down streams
twisting thru valleys
submerged
in a muddy river
delivered to the sea

sunshine’s my forgiver
i shall be released
